Marina Papageorgiou
For the first step of this project, I interviewed my mother Maria, the Jewel Pharmacist, and Senora Wright a Glenbrook South Spanish teacher. When I interviewed them I asked them three questions: How have peoples' interests changed from the last century until now? What are some things that people worry about nowadays? Where do people look for inspiration? when you look at art, what are some traits about it that make it good or bad? When my interviewees had responded I was almost surprised by their responses. The big problem that they said was being most talked about was the economy and how things will play out for their families’ future. Since the last century many things have changed. Humans are found more dependent on others and other “materials”, rather than my selves. However, things have stayed the same such as going out to the movies, shopping and, getting together with family. When I asked them the last question, what makes art good or bad they responded with an answer like: someone who takes the time and effort to portray a message to their viewers.
Overall, I believe that individuals enjoy seeing art that is beautiful and enjoyable to view. This is a great example of what individuals enjoy about art and what is most appealing to them. The little techniques used to create an image truly inspire its viewers. This thought however does show us how art has changed over the last century. People are interested to different types of art form, due to our type of life styles nowadays. I feel people are now waiting for the next thing to happen and the only way for that is through art.

Ultimate Interview
Boyan Tantchev
For this project I interviewed Miss Brown, my mom, and some kid that lives across the street. The first question I had for them was how do they think that art has changed over time. Surprisingly they each had not quite the same but similar views about this. They all pretty much think that art has gotten more and more advanced to match the way things around are changing. For example, my mom said that the sculptures downtown would not have fit in about one hundred years ago but now everything is more modern and it seems to work just fine. The other two people more or less said that art used to be more about painting and drawing things and now its mostly about getting hidden meaning from the art. I felt like these were some pretty interesting questions and they made me think.
Another question that got interesting answers was what do you look for in art these days? The kid across the street had an intriguing idea. He said that he wants it to look "awesome" but at the same time he wants other people to think it looks good not just him. I felt like that was a pretty interesting answer. I would have guessed him to say something like, " If I like it, it works." But no, he did not say that. In fact he was quite considerate of how things should look around our city so he was a good choice to pick for this interview.
Interview
For this part of the project, I interviewed my older brother, a lunch lady, and my friend's dad. I asked them the following questions: What are some things that people worry about nowadays? How have peoples' interests changed from the last century until now? Where do people look for inspiration? and when you look at a piece of art, what are some qualities about it that make it "good" or "bad?" The responses I got were more ranged and broad than I thought they'd be. For the most part, my interviewees said that people worry about money, their futures, family, children, education, success, and happiness. Since the last century, people's lifestyles have become much more digital, instant, fast-paced, and internet based. People's interests have generally stayed the same, what with celebrities, art, music, movies, entertainment, etc. People look to their family members, surroundings, environment, movies, art, dance, celebrities, heroes, etc. When talking about qualities, my interviewees said that it must look like that it took a lot of time, effort, and skill to complete the piece of art. Also, it must be visually appealing, ie. with colors, designs, shapes, etc. and it should be unique and not done before.
In response, to my interviewees' answers, I have found that most people enjoy art that is visually appealing, unique, and skillful. Therefore, technique, intrinsic aesthetic merit, and originality are very important to most people when judging or critiquing art. In response to my previous questions, I found that humans changed since the previous centuries, ie. lifestyle, interests, preoccupations. The way this relates to art is that people want more modern, innovative, fresh styles of art rather than bland, old, overused styles of art that we've all seen before. People want cutting edge, attractive, beautiful, sleek pieces of art that jump out at the viewers and grab their attention. 21st century humans want NOW not THEN.
